Fred Nicholas started playing handball when he was nine years old at Brighton Beach, New York. He played handball through Junior High, High School, University and Law School. He played one wall, three wall and four wall handball and he mastered all walls. He won Los Angeles City High School Championship; the USC Championship; the West Coast Championship; and the NCAA Championship during his playing years.
